The Essentials of Community-Based Pediatric Hospice Care

Conference Summary:
Plan to join us for an essential training course on pediatric hospice care. Through a collaborative effort between Coastal Children’s Services and the Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition of North Carolina, a new interactive curriculum is being piloted! Based on needs and issues raised by both referring pediatric institutions and local hospice agencies from across the state, a team of pediatric palliative care and hospice specialists is leading a family-centered effort to increase access to quality, community-based pediatric hospice services. This 1-day training course provides education and teaches the basic skill sets required to (1) make informed referrals to hospice agencies, (2) help children and families make the transition to home hospice services, and (3) provide quality pediatric hospice care in the home setting. The conference is open to anyone who might touch the lives of children and families facing possible terminal illnesses (including, but not limited to, physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, child life specialists, respiratory therapist, pharmacists, music therapists, bereavement specialists, and emergency medical services providers). We look forward to seeing you in Wilmington.
